Food scoops are some of my most-used and most-helpful kitchen tools. There are so many different sizes, it can be tricky to find the perfect ones that will serve multiple purposes. I’ve tested out a bunch and am excited to share my 3 essential scoop sizes and what I use each one for.
My favorite scoops are from Orson Gygi. They are made of high-quality stainless steel, dishwasher-safe, and very affordable.
One of the best features of using food scoops is that they make perfectly even portion sizes. I find that these 3 scoops are all I need for a variety of purposes.
Mini Scoop (#60)
The mini scoop is probably my most frequently used scoop. It holds about 1 Tablespoon. I use this mini scoop for:
- Protein balls (click here for my favorite recipes)
- Melon balls
- Mini muffins
Medium Scoop (#40)
This medium-sized scoop is great to have around and holds about 1.75 Tablespoons. I use this medium scoop for:
Large Scoop (#20)
You’ll be surprised at how much you use this large scoop! It holds about 3.5 Tablespoons. I use this large scoop for:
- Regular-sized muffins
- Ice cream
- Food portions (ie mashed potatoes or rice)
I hope this sheds some light on food scoops and allows you to see what a beneficial kitchen tool they are! If you’re going to get any 3 sizes, I would recommend the #60, #40 and #20.
